The Washington Capitals announced that their training camp will open on Friday, September 15 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The camp will kick off that day with Media Day, where all players, coaches, and management will be available to speak to reporters.
The week prior to the start of training camp will focus on the rookies, with the teams newbies completing in a four-day tournament in Florida against rookie prospects from the Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Nashville Predators from September 9-12.
The complete roster and schedule for Capitals training camp will be announced at a later date. The team opens their preseason on September 18 in New Jersey versus the Devils.

The Washington Capitals will officially open their 2017-18 NHL training camp on Friday, Sept. 15, at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va.
All Capitals players, coaches and management will be available to the media. There are three practice sessions scheduled that day (Group White at 9:30 a.m., Group Red at 11 a.m. and Group Blue at 12:30 p.m.). Players will be available to the media at the conclusion of their on- and off-ice sessions. The complete training camp schedule and roster will be announced at a later date. Similar to previous years, Kettler Capitals Iceplex will be closed to the media on Thursday, Sept. 14 – the day Capitals veterans conduct physicals and off-ice testing.
Prior to the start of NHL training camp, the Capitals will compete in the four-team rookie tournament, to be held at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla, from Sept. 9-12. The rookie tournament will also feature top prospects from the Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers. Capitals’ prospects will face each of the three other participating teams once during the round-robin tournament. All Capitals games will be broadcast live and will be available on Monumental Sports Network. In addition, all games can be heard on the 24-hour radio channel, Caps Radio 24/7, devoted specially to the Capitals and NHL. The Capitals’ tournament roster and further media information will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
