TJ Oshie scores goal in first Da Beauty League appearance, helps push RBC to championship game

Monday night, Capitals forward and Warroad, Minnesota-native TJ Oshie made his summer league debut in Da Beauty League.

Oshie paid instant dividends for Taylor Chorney’s Team RBC, scoring a goal and tallying a beautiful assist in the team’s 8-7 win. RBC will play Team Velocity in the championship game Wednesday.

Oshie, wearing his normal number 77, was joined at the game by his family and continued his adorable Capitals warmup tradition of high-fiving Lyla along the glass.

Oshie scored his first career Da Beauty League goal on a no-angled shot. The tally pulled RBC within one of TRIA, 4-3, early in the game.

Later, Oshie authored a beautiful assist to Erik Haula to make it 7-6.

RBC would score the final two goals to win 8-7.

After the game, Oshie and Chorney, the two Caps and former UND Fighting Hawks teammates, had a message for fans.

“Awesome win, Team RBC,” Oshie said. “We’re going to the ‘ship.”

“Thanks for coming out, fans. And Osh. Woo!” Chorney added.

Oshie also signed autographs and posed for photos with fans.

Oshie and Chorney will play Caps prospect Travis Boyd and Team Velocity on Wednesday for the prestigious John Scott Cup (which is basically a keg).
