Sunday was Dmitry Orlov’s 26th birthday. The stalwart defenseman celebrated with his wife, Varvara Orlova, in Moscow, according to the pair’s respective Instagram feeds.
Orlova pulled out all the stops to celebrate her husband’s birthday after what was by all measures a special year for him.

Orlova posted a video in which she revealed a recent purchase: a handmade, wooden Orly doll, complete with hockey stick and Capitals uniform.
Additionally, Orlova posted a series of pictures of her and Orlov that appear to have been taken while the couple were in Venice in June.
In the caption, Orlova wrote an extended birthday tribute to her husband:
Dear friends[,] today is the birthday of a wonderful person who is very, very close to me…. [Dmitry], happy birthday[!] I hope that this year will make you even stronger and more powerful, that you open up new possibilities and horizons, that luck will never quit you (or us), and I wish you stout Siberian health )))). I also wish for you to remain just as reliable a husband and as wonderful a friend for those who are close to you…. I’d also like to thank your family and friends that you exist [@’s Orlov’s father Vladimir, brother Maksim, and mother, Natalya])))[.] Health and long, happy days to you….
In addition to the very nicely done, if slightly creepy, Orly doll, Varvara took Orlov out to dinner at Moscow’s exclusive and eclectic Cafe Pushkin.
According to Orlov’s own Instagram story, the couple toasted his birthday over wine, perhaps paired with some “Terrine of pork tongue and fillet with cheese served with asparagus and mushrooms salad” or a bit of “Fried duck breast, cherry risotto, foie gras raviolis in orange glaze, cherry sauce” off the Cafe’s Library Hall menu.
Happy Birthday, Orly! Zdorovya, udachi i dolgikh let!
