Brent Bruns had a busy year. He put up career points with 76 (29 goals, 47 assists) and snagged himself the Norris Trophy as the league’s best defenseman. This summer, while on a visit to Disney Land, Burns was mistaken for a pirate and signed autographs for unknowing kids.
Now Burns has stripped down to appear in ESPN’s Body Issue along with his best bearded buddy, Joe Thornton.

The (former?) teammates debated who had better abs. Thornton more than hinted that he wins that battle.
“I think I have good abs underneath. You just can’t see them.”

According to former teammate and current Panthers defenseman Jason Demers, this isn’t the first time this has happened. Demers also changed his Twitter header image to the photo.

In October, Thornton was photographed walking around Pittsburgh shirtless. He’s also why the Sharks made an interesting fashion decision.
“Joe’s the reason we got bathrobes in San Jose,” Thornton’s cousin Scott Thornton told Sports Illustrated. “After a game he’d be doing interviews naked or he’d have a jock strap on, innocent things for him, so they went out and bought us official San Jose Sharks bathrobes.”
Burns and Thornton now have new robes to add to their collection.
Hey #SJSharks/hockey fans, guess who’s bringing some “body check” to ESPN The Magazine’s 2017 Body Issue? Hint, things might get…beard pic.twitter.com/ArJjDmHSkh

Sounds like a fun day, and it didn’t even take four goals to get Thornton to take it off this time.
