Eventually the Washington Post Express is going to run out of creative ways to depict Caps fans’ anxiety. But today is not that day.
Thursday morning, an Express designer illustrated the Lincoln Memorial as a DC sports fan. Wearing a Wizards hat and a Caps jersey, an anxious Abe Lincoln is shown chewing on his fingernails.

“Honestly, we’re a total wreck,” the cover says. “Breaking down under the stress of two playoff runs? You aren’t alone. For DC Sports fans, it’s been glorious, agonizing ‘cycle of absolute insanity.'”
The Washington Capitals currently trail the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 in their second-round series while the Wizards are down 2-1 in their own second-round series against the Boston Celtics.
A few weeks ago, the Express designed a Caps fan into Edvard Munch’s The Scream.
These illustrations are so spot on.
