The Capitals were at one point down 2-0 to the Penguins after Dmitry Orlov scored on his own net.
Jake Guentzel passed to a phantom Penguin, but it did not reach the phantom Penguin, who does not exist anyway. Instead the puck bounced off Dmitry Orlov’s skate and into the Capitals’ net.
