On Saturday night, the Edmonton Oilers won their first playoff game since June 17, 2006 – a stretch of futility that lasted 3,954 days.
And while that’s fun, I have a hot take I must spew before it incinerates my internal organs. The Edmonton Oilers should be disqualified from the rest of the postseason because their fans did the wave tonight. During actual game play.
The tape shows that this dastardly act happened midway through the third period.
It’s almost as if Oilers fans have experienced so much losing that they forgot how to properly root for their team when its winning.
Now, you guys, this is a Very Serious Offense (I’m sorry Offence) and it cannot be tolerated. I have Gary on the phone right now and we’re about to sign off on the terms of the punishment.
The sad part? Oilers fans doing the wave distracted me from the more important news of the evening: Connor McDavid scored his first career postseason goal. Check out this snipe.
Milan Lucic was pumped in the penalty box.

But again, none of this matters because I have cancelled the rest of the Oilers playoff run.
In closing, the wave is stupid and the people who do it are stupid. The end.
