Dmitry Orlov authored the biggest hit of the Capitals’ season in October, when he sent Matt Duchene airborne.
Wednesday night on national television, Orlov broke up a Rangers breakaway in the most Orly way possible.
Orlov caught Brendan Smith in a sprint. Smith, realizing that his breakaway attempt was kiboshed before he even got a shot on net, stopped and curled to the center of the ice. Orlov crushed him.
It was a perfectly legal hit in the right shoulder.
Fantastic.
Orlov led all players last night with five hits.
