On Thursday night, the Washington Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets were locked in an intense battle to capture the top spot in Metropolitan Division and the league. After much shooting, but no scoring in the first period, Braden Holtby was forced to make a brilliant save to keep the game scoreless.
After Columbus’s Jack Johnson fired a shot off the end boards, Boone Jenner was in perfect position to give the Ohioans the lead.
Instead, Holtby went all Space Cadet Pinball on the Jackets, making the save with his right arm, right pad, stomach, and left arm in that order.
Minutes later, Braden was called upon again when Brandon Dubinsky got the puck coming out of the penalty box off a bounce off a blocked shot.
You know, this guy needs a shirt made in his honor.
