On Monday night, the Dallas Stars celebrated Military Appreciation Night as they hosted the San Jose Sharks. Like the Capitals did, the Stars presented the evening with special warm up jerseys and hats. The Stars went above and beyond, rappelling a dog down from the rafters during the first intermission. Dogs are the best.
This special service dog Patti rappelled down to the ice along with Navy SEAL Veteran Ryan “Birdman” Parrott. Parrott is the founder of an organization called Birds Eye View Project, which helps build awareness around issues veterans and first responders face with extreme adventures and events.
After landing on the ice, Patti met her new forever home when she was presented to honorably discharged U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret Cary Flatt.
The ceremony was presented by a non-profit organization called Rebuilding Warriors, who provide highly trained service dogs to veterans who have been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injury, or have become amputees.
