With their win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night, the Washington Capitals have reached 100 standings points. More importantly, they have secured a playoff spot.
The Caps are going to the dance again. Stock up on Tums.

The Caps had a muted celebration upon getting the regulation win in Amélie Arena. Braden Holtby accepted his customary line of head butts and tender hockey hugs.
The NHL.com standings board has been updated. The Caps have an x, indicating a lock for the postseason. They are the first team to do so.
Also they have a plus-69 goal differential, which is nice.
The Caps, of course, are not done. Their next goal is to win their division and then win the league’s trophy for most points in the regular season, the award widely known as the Ohgodohgodnotagainwhydoesthisalwayshappentothisteam Trophy.
