Daniel Winnik scores ninth goal of the season after beautiful backhanded pass from Jay Beagle

Washington’s fourth line has been ferocious early in Thursday’s late-night rumble with San Jose. Opening up scoring was Daniel Winnik with his ninth goal of the season, a sturdy backhander made possible by a wizard pass by Jay Beagle.

There’s Beagle along the boards with Dylan Demelo and Chris Tierney. With speed, Beagle sends the pass into the slot, where Winnik is waiting.

With two touches, Winnik beats Martin Jones on the glove side.

Taylor Winnik was bemused.

With 20 points on the season, Winnik has already surpassed his total of last year (19) with 16 regular-season games remaining.
