Happy Monday, everybody. The Dallas Stars are in town tonight to face the Capitals and we’re crossing our fingers that someone scores a goal within the first two periods this time.
The Stars currently have not just the worst penalty kill in the NHL, but also the worst road record with only eight wins away from Dallas. That’s great news for Braden Holtby, who, according to Tarik El-Bashir, has never defeated the Stars. He’s 0-3-0 in four appearances.
Puck drop is at 7:30 PM on NBCSN. We will be pretending it’s Joe B and Locker in our heads.
| Team | Record | SA% | PDO | Power Play | Penalty Kill |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Washington Capitals | 44-13-7 | 52.5% | 103.7 | 22.1% (7th) | 84.9% (6th) |
| Dallas Stars | 26-29-10 | 49.2% | 98.6 | 18.3% (17th) | 73.5% (30th) |

Burakovsky Watch 2k17
There have been some developments in terms of the return of Andre Burakovsky. He was placed on LTIR after he broke his hand blocking a shot back on February 9. We will continue to wait with bated breath.
Trotz said Burakovsky would “probably” make the west coast trip (he said to put that in quotations) and would do morning skates/practices.

Non-contact to start with, obviously. Burakovsky is eligible to come off LTIR on March 9.

Storylines
- Justin Williams let everyone know that TJ Oshie missed some time due to a concussion.
- Kevin Shattenkirk is still adapting to his new, BETTER team.
- Phoenix Copley was back in the Hershey lineup and helped the team pull out a win.
- We added a Daniel Winnik t-shirt to our gorgeous collection. Look for it on the runway at next year’s fashion week gatherings.
- Jakub Vrana watched the Wizards-Magic game fro Czech Heritage Night. Spoiler alert, the Wizards were being peak Wizards and won by a single point.
- The wedding of beloved former Capital Brooks Laich and Julianne Hough must be comin’ up soon because Hough had an amazing bachelorette party complete with a fancy boat and punny hashtags.
- Pat Holden has your Snapshot numero 9. This team is very, very lucky.
- Dmitry Orlov is doing well. Last game he not only scored a huge slapshot, but he also tied his career high in points.
- The Capitals have won 15 home games in a row. This is a new franchise record and it would be cool if it increases to 16 tonight.
- Alex Ovechkin delivered pizzas to people in the DMV area the other day and this little kid reacted probably the exact same way a lot of us would.
This really makes you think
If Braden Holtby averages 41 wins for the next 10 years, he'll still be about 100 wins away from Marty.
