After a weird bounce off the boards, Official Dan O’Halloran became an unlikely participant during the New Jersey Devils’ forecheck in the third period, crashing into Braden Holtby.
After Devils defenseman Andy Greene dumped the puck in, Holtby came out to play the puck. The biscuit ramped up high into the glass, but somehow, Holtby still managed to get his stick on the puck.
Unfortunately, that marked the moment where the chaos officially began. The puck bounced out to the crease. A panicking Holtby skated out to retrieve it. As he did, Holtby awkwardly crashed into Dan O’Halloran, who was trying to skate around the net. As a wiped out O’Halloran lays on the ice, Holtby cannot get his stick free. Officials whistled the play down because of a high stick.
O’Halloran’s reaction is priceless.
I need all the replays.
This was very funny to me.
Lucky for the Capitals, the play did not result in a goal, as there was only one scored in the entire game. Thanks, Jakub Vrana.
