The Vancouver Canucks visited the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday for their second match-up of the season. Midway through the first period, Canucks forward/pest Alex Burrows got knocked down into the Sabres’ crease.
As he got up, Burrows decided to get physical with goaltender Sabres goalie Robin Lehner. And that’s when Burrows learned a valuable lesson: Don’t mess with another team’s goalie.
A hulking-out Lehner punches, slashes, and shoves Burrows in the face before a linesman arrives to separate the two.
As Burrows sassily holds up his palms like What was that?, Justin Falk comes off the figurative top rope to violently tackle Burrows to the ice.
A short scrum broke out. Lehner, Falk, and Burrows were all handed two-minute minors for roughing.
In the end, however, Burrows would have the last laugh. The Canucks tied the game on the resulting power play.
Five minutes into the second period, Burrows would score the eventual game-winning goal, further enraging Lehner.
“Burrows’ ninth goal, assist to karma,” the Canucks wrote after the tally.
Though I’m sure Burrows will be bruised and have whiplash when he wakes up tomorrow.
