Referee screams ‘five minutes each FOR FIGHTING’ after Andrew Shaw and Torey Krug scrap

Over the years, seemingly every Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens rivalry game is intense. Things were no different Sunday night in Boston, when Andrew Shaw settled a past score with Torey Krug.

The resulting fight was so fierce, even Referee Wes McCauley got amped when announcing the penalties.

“Number 65 for Montreal and number 47 for Boston. Both guys, five minutes each FOR FIGHTING,” McCauley said, screaming into his microphone. McCauley even sassily punched his own hand.

Shaw and Krug fight occurred 58 seconds into the game. After trading several haymakers, the two players continued scrapping while laying on the ice.

The fight was all payback for an open-ice hit Krug delivered to Shaw on December 12. The Canadiens forward ended up missing a month of play due to concussion symptoms.

Tonight, we learned two lessons: 1) Andrew Shaw never forgets and 2) a screaming referee is always the best referee.
