Pierre McGuire came to #RMNBX and he was the life of the party

Saturday, 400 raucous Caps fans packed the downstairs basement of the Iron Horse for RMNB Party 10. But little did we know that a two-time Stanley Cup champion and Emmy-winning journalist would be randomly chilling upstairs.

NBC Sports’ Pierre McGuire, whom, sure, we’ve had our difference with in the past, came to the Iron Horse to grab a few drinks, catch the game, and check out the party.

After one of our readers tipped us off, Peter and I walked upstairs and introduced ourselves. We took a photo and posted it on Twitter. And then a steady stream of readers came up to meet Pierre. Like there was a giant line. He was literally the nicest person, taking photos, and talking hockey with anyone who greeted him.

But the best part came later.

I drunkenly met Pierre McGuire today at #rmnbx @rmnb_blog

Adam graciously buttoned up his coat so his Shut Up Pierre shirt was not showing.

That time Pierre showed up to #rmnbx

In the third period, Pierre ran down to the first landing of the stairs. And that’s when he began a loud Let’s! Go! Caps! chant with The Horn Guy.

Yes, there is photo evidence.

To show Pierre how much we appreciated his participation, Sheena gave him an official RMNBX name tag, which he wore proudly.

It was around this time we began trending in Washington DC – a first for the blog.

CSN Mid-Atlantic’s Craig Laughlin even gave us a shoutout on air during the third period, which made our crowd begin yelling and clapping at the TVs.

What a party. We’ll have our full photo post tomorrow!
