Caps at Senators pregame: Catch ’em if you can

Having delivered yet another rout, the Caps head north to Canada’s capital to face the Senators. With 55 points, the Sens are second in the Atlantic Division.

The last time these two teams played each other, Braden Holtby notched a shutout in a 1-0 Caps victory. That took place last year. You know what else hasn’t happened since last year? The Caps have not lost a game in regulation (since December 27, to be precise.)

Meanwhile, the Caps’ point streak is at 14 games. If they tally another point, the 2016-17 Caps will have tied a franchise record. Casual.

CSN has your puck drop at 7:30 PM.

Team Record SA% PDO Power Play Penalty Kill
    Washington Capitals 32-9-6 52.9% 104.1 20.7% 85.7%
    Ottawa Senators 25-15-5 47.4% 100.4 17.6% 81.5%

    Projected Lines

Here’s what our gal Isabelle is thinking:

    Ovechkin – Backstrom – Oshie
    Johansson – Kuznetsov – Williams
    Connolly – Eller – Burakovsky
    Winnik – Beagle – Wilson

    Alzner – Niskanen
    Orpik – Orlov
    Chorney – Schmidt

    Chandler Stephenson is Back!

Chandler Stephenson is on my connecting flight to Ottawa, so yeah, he’s been recalled by Caps.

Shoutout to La La Land for killing the Oscars game. The full list of nominees is here–yay or nay?

    Storylines

    • A look at the numbers behind last night’s rout. Yes, that includes Brooks Orpik being named an unsung hero!
    • Relive all six goals the Caps scored against the ‘Canes here.
    • According to Alex Ovechkin, which Capitals defenseman is the Russian Lidstrom?
    • Let’s revisit Fox’s infamous glowing puck, over a decade later.
    • Throwback Tuesday: Apparently the Caps were really, really bad once upon a time.
    • The Sens re-signed Zack Smith to a four-year, $13 million extension. Um, congrats?
    • Chick Webster is the NHL’s oldest living player and has lived a pretty sweet life.
