Evgeny Kuznetsov‘s return to a Washington Capitals jersey (now with ads) appears imminent. Tuesday night, Kuznetsov, using an A+ bird pun, announced that it was “Time to fly south to join Caps” on his Facebook page.
Kuznetsov is referencing the bird walk FIFA celebration that he did twice at the World Cup of Hockey. The NHL called it the “celly of the tournament.”
After flying down from Toronto, the Russian center made his first appearance at Kettler Capitals IcePlex on Monday along with defenseman Dmitry Orlov.
