The Washington Capitals announced today that they raised over $17,500 from their Rock The Rainbow t-shirt campaign. The shirts were sold for $20 each after Brandi and Braden Holtby sported them in June’s Capital Pride Parade. The money raised will go to support the You Can Play Project to help ensure equality, respect and safety for all athletes, coaches and fans, without regard to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

#RockTheRainbow Raises More Than $17,500 for You Can Play Project
ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals fans raised more than $17,500 for the You Can Play Project through their purchases of nearly 1,350 #RockTheRainbow T-shirts, the Washington Capitals and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation announced today.
The Washington Capitals contingency, including goaltender Braden Holtby, wore #RockTheRainbow T-shirts when participating in the Capital Pride Alliance’s 2016 Capital Pride Parade presented by Marriott Rewards on June 11, in Washington, D.C. View a video recap on MonumentalSportsNetwork.com.
MSE Foundation sold the #RockTheRainbow T-shirts featuring the Capitals logos on them in rainbow colors for $20 each. Shirts were sold online at WashingtonCaps.com and at the Team Store at Kettler Capitals Iceplex
Proceeds benefitted the You Can Play Project, an organization dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, coaches and fans, without regard to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
