Hockey Night at the Track: Race against a bona fide NASCAR driver at the Autobahn Indoor Speedway

The RMNB community has done some special things in its six years of existence. Whether it’s turning up for raucous parties or making bat-shit crazy incisive comments on our Facebook page, you always come up big. Now it’s time to for RMNB’s biggest endeavor yet — and your chance to race against a bona fide NASCAR driver.

Ryan Ellis is an avid reader of the site. He’s also, of course, a huge Caps fan. We’re bringing the community together to help him raise the last of the money he needs to get the #25 car into the Drive Sober 200 on October 1 at Dover International Speedway.

Through our fundraising page, we’ve raised approximately $6,000 — enough to race, but not enough to do a full paint job or have multiple sets of tires. On Thursday, September 29, you can help us cross the finish line. Instead of sitting in traffic on the Beltway, you can go nose to nose on the track with a professional racer.

Here are the details:

Russian Machine Never Brakes: Hockey Night at The Track

Join Russian Machine Never Breaks and Ryan Ellis, a Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series driver, for Hockey Night at the Track. You can see how your lap times compare to Ryan’s and hang with fellow Caps fans, readers and the RMNB crew.

Time: Thursday, September 29, 6 to 9 PM
Tickets: 3 races for $35. Just show up, pay, and race.

Address: Autobahn Indoor Speedway
8251 Preston Court
Jessup, MD 20794

Here’s what it’s like. It’s very fun.

Jessup is close to Columbia, Maryland, which is the mid-way point between Washington D.C. and Baltimore. It’s right off I-95.

Ian and I will be there alongside Ryan, greeting readers and probably trying to wreck each other on the track. We hope to see you there.

If you can’t make it to the event, you can donate to our fundraiser here. $20 will get your name on the RMNB NASCAR racecar, $40 will get you one of the final spots of our first ever hockey tournament, and $50 will get you a signed t-shirt/postcard/name-on-car bundle. Local companies can also sponsor Ryan Ellis’s number 25, starting as low as $500.

RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHLPA, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
