Nate Schmidt believes ‘less is more’ when it comes to the playoffs

A player-run practice was hosted at Kettler this morning and CSN’s Capitals Beat Reporter & Anchor Jill Sorenson was there to catch the action and talk to Caps defenseman Nate Schmidt about what he learned from watching our team lose to the Penguins last season.

Nate Schmidt: You kind of understand that less is more in the playoffs, you know? Especially for defense and, like I said, we have such a great group of forwards and we have D that can put a jump up in the play but sometimes a little bit less is more. Do your job and the game will play itself out especially with how talented our team is, if you simplify on the back end and simplify your game a little bit and really make sure you’re picking the right spots to make plays.

Sorenson recapped that in Schmidt’s first NHL playoff experience, he played in all six games against the Flyers. Then in Pittsburgh, he was a healthy scratch for Games 4 and 6.
