If you didn’t know already, locker room logos are sacred. You don’t step on the logo, it’s considered disrespectful and you probably want the team that the logo belongs to, to lose forever if you do commit said act. I’m not much of a superstitious gal, but it’s getting to the point in my fandom with this team that I think we should probably try everything and anything. Even if that means we won when I ate a kale salad and now I need to eat kale salad for lunch every single game day.

Where did this tradition come from? Honestly, nobody is quite sure but it is an unwritten rule in the NHL and, for the most part, (I’m lookin’ at you Baby Lucca) everyone is in agreement with it. But, while we were anxiously preparing ourselves for the Team USA vs Team Finland game at the Verizon Center last night, Washington Times sports writer, Tommy Chalk let us know that there is nothing but respect in the room for our home team. Even New Jersey Devils goalie, Cory Schneider took a leap over the logo in full gear to avoid stepping on it.

Does this mean other teams are rooting for us to win the cup this year? Is everyone else just as tired as we are of defending how great our team is without the cup? I like to think so, but in reality, they’re just a group of guys that respect the code of the locker room logo. For that, I thank them.
