While many Caps players have returned to Washington to prep for training camp, Caps backup goaltender Philipp Grubauer has been in Latvia, participating in an IIHF qualifying tournament for the Olympics.
After posting two consecutive shutouts against Japan and Austria, Grubi made 26 saves in Germany’s 3-2 victory over Latvia, Sunday. The win clinched a berth for Germany in the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics after going undefeated in Group E.
Grubauer was very happy.
