Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin on Sunday made his first public appearance since reports surfaced he got married to fiancee Nastya Shubskaya over the weekend. Ovechkin played in Slava Kozlov’s farewell hockey game in Voskresensk near Moscow. Kozlov won two Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings (1997, 1998) and two Gagarin Cups (2011, 2012).
The game was attended by superstars Evgeni Malkin and Ilya Kovalchuk and played under the framework of past From Pure Heart exhibitions. According to b-m.info, the event raised over $5 million rubles for a local orphanage that helps children with developmental disorders and children left without parental care.
Team Kozlov beat Team Kovalchuk 12-11. Ovechkin looked like he had an immense amount of fun.

At one point, Ovechkin also played goaltender again… poorly.
