We finally found an instance where we don’t want Pierre McGuire to shut up.
On Monday, NBC’s Dan Patrick called into his own radio show, The Dan Patrick Show, as a guest of former Versus hockey reporter Charissa Thompson. Patrick has been serving as one of NBC’s main anchors during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
When asked by Thompson if he had any concerns while traveling to Rio, Patrick named Zika, the virus currently affecting Brazil and has recently spread to the United States. Luckily for Patrick, Pierre McGuire was there to make the save!
“I think I had the same concerns as everybody else,” Patrick said. “But if you read everything, then you’d never come down here. I just said let me reserve judgement until I come down and see for myself. Now have I seen the Zika mosquitoes? Yes, I have. Not many, probably two or three, but I’m aware of it.”
“Pierre McGuire our great hockey analyst at NBC,” Patrick continued. “He noticed them right above my head and he swatted them from above my head. So that’s the only time I’ve seen them.”
After hearing McGuire mentioned, Thompson made sure to point out that he was the man that took her job Inside The Glass when coverage switched to NBC and NBCSN.
McGuire was busy in Rio Monday, serving as an analyst during NBC’s water polo coverage.
