In New Alex Ovechkin Commercial, We Learn Russian Machine Cannot Tuba (Video)

This summer, Alex Ovechkin signed an expensive, one-year endorsement deal with Bank Otkrytie. Four new soccer-focused commercials starring Ovechkin were released on Friday during the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament.

Three more commercials dropped yesterday and, good lord, THE TUBA ONE. DROP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND WATCH THIS NOW.

Ovechkin, sitting on a white chair atop an empty parking deck, is handed a tuba. At the six-second mark, Ovechkin asks someone off screen, “Is this where you blow?” After two tries, Ovechkin says, “It’s not working!” and laughs.

The commercial ends with the narrator saying, “There is always room for discovery,” the company’s motto.

This is Peak Ovechkin. Aren’t you glad you watched? Though I’m surprised Ovi didn’t try to play his favorite musical instrument, the flay-tah.

Other New Commercials

In this clip, Ovechkin mocks Ronaldo trying to say Otkrytie. Then he tells the footballer, “Cristiano, learn Russian! There is always room for discovery in life!” This is a play on the company’s most celebrated commercial filmed two years ago, in which Ronaldo fails to pronounce the name Otkrytie in Russian.

Here Ovechkin drives around the parking deck in a segway. The commercial is about Otkrytie’s mobile app to pay for parking.
