Capitals and Braden Holtby Rock the Rainbow at Capital Pride Parade (Photos)

Saturday afternoon, Braden Holtby and his wife Brandi supported the DC LGBTQIA community and “Rocked the Rainbow” in the Capital Pride parade. The Holtbys were also joined by several members of the Capitals including PA Announcer Wes Johnson, in-game host Erin Magee, Slapshot, and the Red Rockers.

Earlier in the week, Holtby spoke to the Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg’s and revealed that he attended last year’s Capital Pride Festival. Braden and Brandi were inspired by the cause after visiting the former home of Harvey Milk (which is now currently San Francisco Human Rights Campaign Action Center and Store) during their honeymoon in San Francisco.

Via the DC Sports Bog:

They left with HRC bumper stickers for both their cars, with their names on the list of HRC supporters, and with an increased commitment to LGBT issues. When their D.C.-area landscaper later saw their bumper stickers, he invited the Holtbys to the organization’s annual dinner in D.C. And so Holtby attended last year’s Human Rights Campaign national dinner not as a representative of the Caps or as one of the best goalies in the NHL, but “just as a random dude trying to show support.”

Also joining the Capitals during the parade were friends of RMNB, Doug Johnson and Craig Brownstein, who run the popular blog Puck Buddys.
