The Washington Capitals must win their next two games against the Pittsburgh Penguins to keep their Stanley Cup dreams alive. Yet, if you think the players are figuratively drowning in a sea of anxiety, you’d be wrong. So. Very. Wrong.
For example, let’s take a closer look at this post-practice interview with Jason Chimera.
“Sometimes your back against the wall, it brings out your best,” Chimera said Monday ahead of Game Six. “If that’s the case, we got some good things coming. If desperation brings out our best, like I said, we’re a pretty tough team to beat. We gotta bring that desperation level and urgency and go from there.”
Then Chimera was asked about his contract, which ends after this season.
“I’ve been here a long time,” Chimera said. “I don’t expect to be anywhere else next year too. You wanna win with these guys right now. Whatever happens next year, happens next year.”

That’s when the Caps regular season point leader and dude who’s destined to break out soon, Evgeny Kuznetsov, gave Chimmer a big smooch on the cheek.
“See. Guys love each other in here. Kisses all over the place,” Chimera deadpanned. “Usually it’s on the lips.”
Like I said earlier today: This team is so weird.
