Sunday night, Caps owner Ted Leonsis was in the U Street Corridor and posted a landscape of the 9:30 Club. The concert hall’s iconic broadcast antenna (from its days as WUST-AM 1120) was lit up in red and white colors. “Red rocking around DC,” Leonsis captioned the photo.

Was this done to show support to the Capitals?
Local legend and co-owner of the 9:30 Club, Seth Hurwitz, confirmed it was in an email to RMNB Tuesday morning.
“It’s intentional, yes,” Hurwitz wrote. “We are Caps fans. Isn’t everyone? People here may differ on baseball and football, but everyone in DC & Baltimore Rocks the Red.”
“Ted is a remarkably admirable owner,” Hurwitz continued. “I think people root for him as much as the team.”
Hurwitz has been a longtime fan of the team. He was spotted in Leonsis’s Owner’s Box earlier this season. He also went to a Baltimore Ravens game with Mike Green in 2012.
Hurwitz had one final message in his email.
“Let’s shut those Pens fans up,” he wrote.
