Round 1, Game 1 Live Blog: Caps vs Flyers

Gulp.

Today’s the day. The spotlight is on, the bandwagon is full and I already feel like I’m going to throw up. We’re at home for Game One and Game Two and anything but a 2-0 start is going to be a tough pill to swallow for this team.

The Flyers of course want to throw this entire area into a chaotic mess. Claude Giroux and the boys come into Washington looking to steal a game before they head back to Philadelphia. Say your prayers, wear your lucky socks, grab a seat and be ready to get on a ride that will only end two ways.

First liveblog of the playoffs below.

Pre-Game

Your lines and pairings for tonight are as follows:

Rock The Red.

First Period

FP wants to watch, anyone got anything?

Story of the first period.

#92 is in this thing to win it.

CFTC: Well that’s exactly the opposite of what we want to do. We played fine when we were at evens, the only problem being that we were never at evens. Refs kinda owe us one now. Let’s hope for a better 2nd. 0-0 after 1.

Second Period

Remember that whole “in it to win it” thing?

Wanna see cuteness? Here’s cuteness.

So it’s probably not a good idea to take penalties like this?

Real American Hero John Carlson makes it 1-0 on the PP.

CFTC: We are playing very well. Another goal or two would be fantastic though. Please don’t take anymore penalties. 1-0 Caps after 2.

It is also now confirmed that Sean Couturier is done for the night after this Alex Ovechkin hit.

Third Period

Marcus Johansson makes the play of the night and Jay Beagle snipes it home to put the Caps up 2-0 late.

CFTC: Apologies for the lack of content in the 3rd period section. I was just a tad into the finish of this one. Fantastic performance from the boys in red. 3 more like that please.

Final score: Caps 2-0.
