Are you into teams that are 20 points out of first place? Can you simply not resist cheering for a team that has sold all real estate in their collective head to Tom Wilson? Ooooo boy, then do I have a team for you. That team is the New York Islanders, whom the Caps will play tonight in Brooklyn.
Road game for most #Caps tonight, but not for Tom Wilson, who will feel at home back in the friendly confines of the Islanders' heads…

Here In Your Bedroom
This is Tom Wilson’s song about the New York Islanders. He isn’t just in their head or kitchen, he is residing comfortably in their bedroom.
Steinberg vs Grated Parmesan
Sometimes special stories deserve their own headings in the pregame. Dan Steinberg’s muscular takedown of grated Parmesan cheese is one such example. In the story, and I am not making this part up, Steinberg actually says “I’m no snob,” so that right there is worth the price of admission, which is nothing.
For the record, here are the world’s top 5 cheeses and there can be no argument about it.
- Brie
- Gouda
- Gruyere
- Parmesan Reggiano
- Cheddar
Special shout-out to all my blue-vein cheeses, all my goat cheeses holding it down in the alpine hills, snooty ol’ Camembert getting paid, and of course Kraft Singles, which my dog seems to like. — Peter

Pitcher and Catchers Reporting For Duty!
I love baseball. I love the cerebral aspect of it. I love the leisurely pace that it maintains in a society that is too often filled up with nonsensical busyness. I love going to the ballpark with family and/or friends on a nice summer night. I love enjoying those nice summer nights with a cool beverage, a bag of peanuts, and good conversation with those who are close to my heart. Welcome back, baseball. I’ve missed you.
