The Washington Capitals organization gives out a program during games called “Breakaway.” Inside, it features various Caps players and their various (potentially embarrassing) survey answers. Kuzy, I’m sure, loves the surveys (Ian really enjoys that Vine), and some might even say he has a bad romance with them.
I learned a lot . . . maybe too much — such as Evgeny Kuznetsov‘s favorite musician being Lady Gaga. One can only imagine how excited he was to watch the singer perform the national anthem at Super Bowl 50. Let’s look at some other tidbits that thornescratch over on Tumblr provided us with.
- “Shrek 2” is Kuzy’s favorite movie, which is part of the Embarrassing Answers category. But don’t judge him too hard; he was just born this way. Evgeny seems to have a fondness for sequels, daringly choosing “Home Alone 2” as another favorite (I have yet to see a “Home Alone” movie). “Harry Potter” is his redemption.
- It’s not even worth mentioning that “Family Fued” makes him want to marry the night.
- But it is worth mentioning that “NHL Live” is. Reading his Player’s Tribune article, it’s no surprise the top six center watches post-game analysis of other games around the league.
- Kuzya’s favorite musicians are unexpected and eclectic, much like his style of hockey.
- Nicklas Backstrom continues to be the world’s sweetest Swede by saying he would have his dinner guests be his family and friends.
- Georgetown is always a great answer and Tom Wilson would agree, too.
- Jason Chimera seems to be a popular choice for the title of Funniest Teammate — Kuznetsov paid tribute to him in the December issue, surprisingly overlooking Alejandro, his other, more low-key teammate. Chimera was featured in the January edition, so Nate Schmidt was chosen by default.
- The Swedes go for the hipster route: Andre Burakovsky is the only one out of the six to choose Snapchat over Twitter. Backy apparently has bad blood towards Taylor Swift (don’t worry, I hate myself for that pun, too). Marcus Johansson likes the good boy-band instead of the other one. MoJo, the only one who could actually pass for a hipster, is also the only Swede to choose “NHL 16” over “FIFA”, which I admire and respect greatly.
- But really, Andre? Snapchat? Kuzy probably doesn’t even want to telephone him anymore because why would anyone ever choose Snapchat over Twitter?
- Little Willy and Chimmer both go for flip-flops over sneakers, which shouldn’t be disturbing, but it is.
- Nate Schmidt can do no wrong and is a literal perfect human being. Not figuratively. Literally.
- Phillip Grubauer took the easy way out by guessing Braden Holtby‘s favorite TV show is “Family Feud,” but he also believed Holts’ favorite athlete to be his father, which is kind of adorable, so he gets a pass.
- Sushi is good. Eel’s the way to go.
- It’s now common knowledge that Schmidty is the best friend to ever have.
- Holtby probably answered all of these with the straightest poker face.
I think we all learned a lot today. Feel free to integrate any of these Lady Gaga puns into your everyday conversations.
