Friday afternoon, Washington DC is slated to be in the path of a major snowstorm, which could dump up to 20 or 30 inches of snow this weekend. Today, Metro went an extraordinary route, deciding to shutter its Metrorail services all weekend – beginning at 11pm Friday.
The Caps and Ducks were scheduled to play at 7pm. Not anymore.
The NHL has opted not to cancel the game, but move the start time up to 5pm. The game will still go on. It appears that’s so the Ducks can have a better chance of flying out of the area before DC becomes a giant igloo.
Bob Murray also said league might move up game time Friday at Washington so team can get out and to Detroit before snow descends.

Here’s more from the Caps.
The National Hockey League announced today the start time for the Capitals home game on Friday against the Anaheim Ducks has been changed from 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. due to the severe snowstorm impacting the Washington, D.C., area and in light of Metro’s service changes. Click here for Metro’s news release.
All tickets for Friday’s game, originally scheduled for 7 p.m., will be honored for the new start time.
The Capitals remain in communication with the NHL, Pittsburgh Penguins and local government officials regarding the status of Sunday’s 12:30 p.m. game against the Penguins at Verizon Center. In the event of any schedule changes, the Capitals will email all season-ticket holders and communicate updates immediately via WashingtonCaps.com and social media platforms.
How many of you are still going to try and go to the game? What do you think of the decision?
