The holidays are upon us. The gifts are wrapped, you’ve listened to our holiday office party podcast, and all that’s left is to put the finishing trimmings on the tree. And if you don’t have something for the top of your tree, like RMNB reader Dave, you get a little creative.

This is brilliant in its simplicity. Braden Holtby, inarguably the Caps’ MVP through the first three months of the season, is the angel atop Dave’s Christmas tree. The grimace-smiling printed out photo is a nice touch. So brilliant, in fact, it inspired us to make two hockey-themed tree toppers of our own.
Our first is more traditional and dedicated to Nicklas Backstrom. We call it Saint Nick.
That sweet smile! Those golden locks! This Swedish Angel is sure to confirm your name on the nice list. This Backy topper is a greatly underrated yet incredibly valuable addition to your tree. Will your decorations be named as All-Stars? Nope, but your close circle of peers who are all Caps fans will appreciate its greatness anyways.

For those who want a totally different vibe this holiday season, our other topper is dedicated to Caps’ head honcho, Barry Trotz. He comes wearing his Christmas best: his practice tracksuit.
Look how happy Barry is. His presence will immediately transform the look of your space and the feel of your holiday. Like I’m hoping that every Capital player prints out “Track Suit Angel Barry” and puts it on their tree. He can stare back at them on Christmas Day. Oh, Ovi, you want extra servings of mashed potatoes? One more shot of eggnog you say, Tom? Track Suit Angel Barry’s heavenly scowl will remind them of the present he has awaiting for them if they’re naughty during their four-day break: Bag Skates!

Both of these men are angels to this fan base in their own unique way. One’s sweet and perfect; good at hockey. The other’s turned this organization into a family and is pushing it towards hockey immortality.
Happy Holidays, RMNB readers! Hope your day is full of yummy food, festive fun, and good company. And if you use our tree angels (or wear our Ugly Holiday sweater), please send us a tweet/photo @russianmachine or tag us on Instagram!
