Because Hockey Night In Canada loves us, they recorded the Capitals pre-game routine in the hallway just outside the locker room. It is ridiculous and therefore I must show you.
First Nate Schmidt and Jason Chimera do some kind of high-five thing. Schmidt, doing a shimmy of some sort, then gives Tanzia (?) Chorney a low five. Chimera, while running through his teammates like a push lawn mower, almost knocks over the Capitals’ interview screen. To the right, TJ Oshie, Tom Wilson, Michael Latta, and Chorney all congregate and high five. Alex Ovechkin can be seen yelling as Stan Galiev laughs uncontrollably.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your division-leading Washington Capitals.
But I’m not done! HNIC also revealed Barry Trotz’s superstition of not going out on the bench until 2:10 is left before the game begins. Braden Holtby also ends his visualizations right at 44:30.
What a bunch of weirdos.
