Maybe tonight will be the night that Alex Ovechkin breaks Sergei Fedorov‘s goal scoring record. Or maybe Justin Williams will further sabotage his teammate’s attempt at history. Bovada odds on Williams being a spy were 20:1 at the start of the week but stand at 2.5:1 as of Friday afternoon.
The good news for the Caps is that half the team could try to sabotage the effort tonight and they’d still have a good chance at beating the Calgary Flames. The Flames overachieved last season but were lauded for being “gritty” and having “character.” I suppose the reason they are 5-11-1 so far this season is because they just don’t have the will to win.
Or, perhaps their good fortune ran out and this is who the Flames are. A look at the their rolling 10-game shot-attempt percentage since the start of last season is telling. At no point does their share of the shot attempts go above 50 percent.
