Barry Trotz rules and Adam Oates drools. We all know this. But sometimes, and by sometimes I mean as often as you can, it’s important to stop and smell the roses. We’re all set to expire sometime, so why not appreciate what we have while we’re here?
Today, we’re appreciating Trotz and just how much better he is than the last guy.
To start, here’s a look at the Caps shot attempt percentage in different score stats under both coaches.
The Caps are significantly better in every area under Trotz. What’s really noteworthy here, and perhaps the most interesting thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life, is that the Caps shot-attempt percentage under Trotz when tied (52.2 percent) is better than their shot attempt percentage under Oates when trailing (51.8 percent).
Here’s a look at the regulars who have skated through both regimes have fared.
Some improvements are more drastic than other but every player improved in shot-attempt percentage under Trotz.
I’m beginning to think the Caps ditched a bad head coach for a really good one. It’s a good time to be a Caps fan, eh?
