Brooks Laich, a man always capable of dropping a noteworthy quotes, dropped this one today:
Brooks Laich had this to say about Alex Ovechkin today: "As far as I'm concerned, the best goal-scorer the game has ever seen."

This is correct.
How, you might ask, could a man who only 50th in all-time goals at the age of thirty be the best goal scorer in the history of the NHL? Fedor touched on this in January, but Ovechkin ranks much higher than 50th overall when you use adjusted goals. Adjusted goals weighs goals based on the era in which they were scored. Ovechkin topping 50 goals these days is a lot more impressive than a player posting 50 goals in 1983.
Looking at adjusted goals, Ovechkin already ranks 16th overall.
When comparing Ovechkin’s adjusted goal totals for his age 20-29 seasons, he’s on pace to score more goals than any player in NHL history.

What do you think? Will Ovechkin be the best goal scorer in NHL history when he retires?
