It’s official: the Caps and Islanders really, really hate each other. Game seven on Monday should be intense (and very loud).
The drama reached a fever pitch in game six after John Carlson shot a loose puck at Jaroslav Halak after the buzzer sounded. This was an injustice according to Kyle Okposo, so the Isles winger made a beeline to Carly. A brawl ensued.
To summarize: Alex Ovechkin horse-collared Okposo; Troy Brouwer jumped on top of Frans Nielsen; Marcus Johansson got salty with Thomas Hickey; and Nicklas Backstrom debated his favorite Tom Cruise movies with Johnny Boychuk. C’MON, IT’S DAYS OF THUNDER, DAMMIT.

Once the players began to separate, Isles fans began throwing things again.
I count at least three rally towels on the ice.

Now beer bottles coming onto the ice

A beer bottle could be seen tossed as Troy Brouwer got up at the end of the brawl and there were several bottles near the Caps tunnel.
As the Caps went into the locker room, Tom Wilson could be seen screaming at an Islanders fan. According to The Washington Post’s Alex Prewitt, Matt Niskanen scooped up one of those stray beer bottles and threw it back into the stands.
Chimera also stopped at the entrance to the tunnel to yell back at a fan.

Niskanen just scooped a beer bottle up and flung it back into the stands.

Yikes.
Caps fans, bring it Monday. And let’s show New York how to win a hockey game with grace.
