Alex Ovechkin is the Washington Capitals’ all-time goal-scoring leader.
With a power-play snipe to beat Carey Price in the second period of Thursday’s Canadiens game, Alex Ovechkin scored his 473rd goal as a Capital, finally passing the great Peter Bondra.
The Caps were on a power play, shortly after a two-man advantage had ended. John Carlson’s breakout pass found Ovechkin in neutral. Ovi beat one defenseman at the blue line and another at the circle. To the Ovi spot he went, unleashing a shot to the top-right corner.
Non-Hart winner Carey Price didn’t stand a chance and shook his head after the tally.
That was Ovechkin’s 51st goal this season. You can see the other fifty right here.
Just another night in Alex Ovechkin’s Hart/Richard/Clancy season.
