The Washington Capitals held Military Night at Verizon Center on Thursday. During warm-ups, the Caps wore camouflaged jerseys with each player’s name stitched on the front. The players took to the ice with their Courage Caps, which the the team has been selling, along with t-shirts, to raise money for TAPS – a nonprofit organization that helps families of the fallen.
If you didn’t grab the gear last night at Verizon, you can buy them online at the Caps website with the option of getting them signed by your favorite player.
Before the game, Master Sergeant Bob McDonald and Master Sergeant Caleb Green sang a beautiful, harmonized rendition of the national anthem. They were joined by U.S. Army Special Forces Staff Sergeant Michael Davis, captain of the USA Warriors standing team, who participated in the ceremonial face-off with US Olympians Zach Parise and Brooks Orpik. The USA Warriors held a shootout during intermission.
Here are Amanda Bowen’s photos from the game.
