Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin came out in the first period literally on fire. He delivered three big hits, leading all Capitals skaters. He accidentally hurt Kevin Shattenkirk (lower-body injury, will not return) because he’s made of old USSR Titanium. He also scored his 30th goal of the season, which meant FREE ROY ROGERS FOR EVERYBODY.
Here’s a few key words to summarize it really quick because we’ve seen this a million times before: power play, Ovi Spot, Mike Green wheelhouse.
View all of Alex Ovechkin’s goals this season.
After the goal was announced, the Caps showed what Ovechkin had won for the fans.

Fun fact: I worked at Roy Rogers from ages 15 to 21 and can make a mean Double R Bar burger.
Also: Ovi laid out multiple Blues players.
Shattenkirk got injured trying to check the Russian machine. The Blues announced he will not return to the game.
That gives Alex Ovechkin his 10th 30-goal season– a feat that includes nabbing 32 goals in the lockout-shortened season with Adam Oates as coach.

That also makes 14 goals for Ovi in his last 15 games. This Ovechkin guy is okay.
