The Washington Capitals outshot the Columbus Blue Jackets 41-23 on Thursday night, but they got just one standings point out of the game because they couldn’t convert enough power plays.
Also, Caps veteran Jason Chimera, who has struggled this season, took the dumbest interference penalty ever in overtime.

Keep your eye on the center of the image. Not even close to the puck, Chimera just checks Jack Johnson for no reason.

Trotz was pissed. (Fehr was itchy.)
One minute, thirty-eight seconds later, Nick Foligno ended the game.
Chimera remained in the box, stunned.

“I’m not disappointed,” Trotz, full of Chimera rage, said after the game, before admitting he was disappointed. “The only thing I’m disappointed in is the bad penalty at the end. A bad, unnecessary penalty that cost us a point.”
That’s poignant, but Trotz wasn’t done with his Chimera chiding. No, no, no.

Later, when asked about the Caps’ pending decision to keep Andre Burakovsky from playing in the World Junior Championship, Trotz was like, Eff it, I’m going to bury Chimera again.

Sounds like Chimmer’s going to have a pretty bad next couple of days.
