You’d think he’d smile more.
Early Wednesday evening, Karl Alzner‘s wife, Mandy, gave birth to their first child, a baby girl named Stella. Born at 7:22PM, Stella Raay Alzner was announced to the world via The Washington Post’s Alex Prewitt.
Karl Alzner's wife, Mandi, had their first child tonight: Stella Raay Alzner, born at 7:22 pm, per @washcaps. Don't think Epix filmed.

The timing of the delivery could not have been better. After playing the Lightning on Tuesday night in Florida, head coach Barry Trotz gave the team off Wednesday.
Alzner spoke to the DC Sports Bog a few weeks ago, revealing he was worried he might miss a game due to the pregnancy.
“I would try to make it work as best as I can to make it there for the birth. To some people it’s really important, and it’s important to me, but I have a little streak going which is also quite important,” Alzner smirked, referring to his consecutive-games played streak of 309, one of the tops among Caps defenseman but still well behind Bobby Carpenter’s team record of 422. “I don’t even know the exact number, but all I know is that I’m two behind [John Carlson]. I don’t care about the overall record, I’m just trying to catch him.”
The new #AlznerBaby joins #BackyBaby, #ChimmerChild, and the #HoltBeastlings as recent Caps newborns. Backstrom’s girlfriend gave birthday to a baby girl last October; the Holtbys have given birth to a baby boy and girl over the last two years; and Chimera’s rambunctious son Cale is an expert water-squirter of Alex Ovechkin.
Judging by how competitive Carlzner is, John Carlson and his wife must be on deck.
