In January of 2013, Peter and I debuted RMNB’s first (and only) webcomic: Shinny!, a story about a very superstitious 20-something Caps fan named Shinny, her grumpy “Old Time Hockey” dad, and clueless fair-weather fan boyfriend, whose name is Chad.

The comic went on hiatus a year and a half ago, leaving readers with a bit of a cliffhanger: Shinny upset at choosing to bring her boyfriend to a Caps game over her father, and Chad feeling guilty for ruining their trip to the game.

Now, Shinny! is back, and ready to once again bring you some new stories revolving around the world of the Caps, NHL, and the whole wide world of hockey.

What should you expect from the comic?

Well, first off, we’re gonna pick up where we left off. Will Shinny be mad forever? How will Chad make up for ruining the game to her?

Like in previous pages, we will continue to do topical pieces about the Caps and the NHL, such as playoff beards, bad zebras, and definitely more goofy Shoulder Sashas.

Longer story arcs and new characters!

One of the things I wanted to branch out on is the characters themselves. How did Shinny become the mohawk-ed, smart-mouthed, superstitious hockey fan she is today? We’re gonna delve into Shinny’s past a bit to learn about her relationships with both her parents and her peers, and how their reactions to her love of the sport impact her, as a fan and as a player.

(Did I mention Shinny plays Center in a [full contact] amateur women’s league?)

Throughout the course of the story, you’ll get to meet a new cast of characters: Shinny’s team, the Hoodlums. The team includes Shinny & Chad’s best friend Abbie: a 4’11” goalie with a temper problem that would rival Bruce Banner’s.
