Czech forward Jakub Vrana, who was selected by the Capitals in the first round of the 2014 draft, assisted on two goals as his Linkoping defeated Skelleftea AIK 3-1. Vrana missed the two previous matches (including a Champions League game against Sparta Prague) as he had not yet returned from Czech Republic, where he suited up for his national team at the junior Four Nations tournament.
Vrana is in blue and wears number 13.
On his first assist of the night, Vrana threw a beautiful pass to the goalmouth. Jacob Micflikier couldn’t corral it, so Jeff Taffe picked the puck up and fed it back to Micflikier for a one-time shot at a gaping net.
To get his second assist, Vrana put a perfect pass on the stick of Micflikier, who had a one-timer from point-blank range again and didn’t miss.
With two points on Saturday, Vrana now has eight points in 13 games, which makes him third in points per game among junior (U20) players who played significant amount of games behind two other top picks from 2014 Draft, William Nylander and Kevin Fiala. Vrana also has five points in his last five games.
