In the first period, the Washington Capitals defense was about as holey as my fifth grade gym socks, which I should really throw out. No worries though; Braden Holtby was on the case.
The Holtbeast made his slickest save of the season, robbing future hall-of-famer Jaromir Jagr from point-blank right at the end of the period.
Look. At. That. (GIF by @myregularface)
I love how Holtby manages to make the save with the open part of his forearm. Also, what great explosiveness going side-to-side in the crease like that.
And a good example of our No Jagr policy in action.
Holtby made a few other scintillating stops in the first period as well, including a flashy glove save on Mike Cammalleri’s breakaway.
It just looks like it’s going to be Braden Holtby’s year. Am I right?
