When the Washington Capitals walked into the locker room for the first intermission, they trailed the San Jose Sharks 3-0. Seven short minutes into the second period, the Capitals had scored three of the next four goals, pulling within one.
Two quick goals from Mike Green and Alex Ovechkin 34 seconds apart, helped make that all possible.
Green’s goal, which came from the point, is due primarily to Liam O’Brien, who created havoc in front of the net. O’Brien registered his first NHL point on this goal.
Then Ovechkin struck under a minute later.
After a Matt Niskanen shot goes wide, Ovechkin hustles and grabs the rebound. He then passes the puck to Eric Fehr. Fehr gives it to Backstrom who then drops it for Ovechkin. Wrist shot. SCOAR.
Then Ovechkin roars because he’s actually a lion.
