Team Sweden survived a challenge from Latvia on Saturday, winning 5-3 to finish the preliminary round undefeated. But it wasn’t easy.
In the second period, Sweden actually trailed 2-1 until Nicklas Backstrom and Erik Karlsson connected on another power play goal.
Backstrom, usually the calmest player on the ice after a Caps goal, was ecstatic after Karlsson’s. Nicky skated up and tackle-hugged his fellow Swede to the ice. Daniel Alfredsson, unsure what to do, joined the pig-pile, laying on top his two teammates like a Swedish Lincoln log.
Expressen also captured some terrific photos of the celebration.
